Did the jews stop writing their historical story after the return from the asylum?

As everybody knows, the jews were keeping notes of their history and these make a prominent part of the Torah, or the christian Bible nowadays. Well, did the jews stop keeping these historical notes after their return from the asylum? And if they did not stop, why aren't these added to the holy books?
